| If you have a Sony PStwo with a SCPH number 7500x or above, regardless of whether or not it is modified, you may run into problems playing Dance Summit 2001, particularly the View Mode.
Although I cannot find any official documentation on this incompatibility, this consumer alert lists incompatible domestic games (for both PSX & PS2) with SCPH-75001 (and above): http://www.us.playstation.com/News/ConsumerAlerts/softwareTitles_75001.html. It's probable that later models have the same problem.
If you happen to have a Japanese SCPH-75000 or above and an original disc of DS2001, I would be interested to know if it works. Chances are you don't, and it's all right if you don't want to take the risk and do this experiment.
SCPH-7500x and above are all slimline models. They should only have a broadband ethernet port on its built-in network adaptor and not two (the other being a dial-up phone line port). Phat models, provided they can play Japanese imports with or without a mod, are also probably not affected.
LESSON: If you buy a PS2 and you WANT to play Dance Summit 2001, be sure to get an earlier model, and definitely do NOT buy a new one from a store.
I had to learn this THE HARD WAY, and believe you me, it SUCKS ._________________ Chet Lemon & Black Snow Awesome Show

| It's a good thing I got a used older model off of ebay then! I just wish I didn't have to get it modded to play the game |

Yeah, that's part of it. Also there's other things I'd rather buy first (PS3, tablet, etc.), and I think I'd rather get those first than get my PS2 modded just so I could play 2 or 3 more games. But I will sometime. |
