Sooo … I'm looking into getting a new computer. Right now, I don't have a budget set, so until then, this would probably be a hypothetical/theoretical discussion thread, but I'd like to keep it somewhat realistic -- otherwise, I would've been more inclined to put this in General Banter X-cited + D-lighted .

So by the title of this thread, you could probably tell that I prefer a gaming laptop. That is, I need it to handle video-editing and gaming--more importantly--capping it at its highest quality settings. After all, that is why Ian bought himself that capture card so he could fulfill that promise he made to ShortyMyLove‡ and you guys and sign up for youTube again (^^"). At the same time, Ian requires the mobility for potentially carrying it around, and is willing to sacrifice some (but not too much) performance power as offered in a beefy desktop rig. A good balance between the two would be fine. Ian, in his infinite NEWBage, probably won't intend to play/cap the high-end games such as Right 4 Dead or World of Starcraft XP . I think I still have an old copy of Half-Life CounterStrike Source, and I might choose to reinstall it if it's possible to make machigunimahs with them X-cited + D-lighted .

‡I wonder what promise I could make to SML once I get this new computer scratch ?????

Comments, queries, accusations???

I'm no expert, but I heard the Alienware computers and laptops are great for gaming.

I also heard that Hell Dell now owns AlienWare, so I'm a bit worried about that.

My last two computers are Hells Dells, and I encounter/have encountered my fair share of problems with them. Other than that, the most biting comment I've heard of them is "they are the most fixed computers." o.O
